12:30h Panel 2: Citizen Centric models to transform urban areas

Citizens should be at the core of the city transformation,
since cities are made by and for them. Often citizens are only informed or

liveable and far from their real needs. The panel will discuss on how citizens
can be positioned and engaged as the centre of the urban transformation.

PROGRAMME OF TECHNICAL VISITS (SEPTEMBER 20th)

TV1 Sustainable mobility actions in the city for citizens, services and logistics Amongst the most remarkable mobility interventions from REMOURBAN project we can find CENTROLID fast charging station and the two pantographs that provide charging power to the electric buses that circulate along line 7, which are located at the first and last stops of the line. It will be possible to get first hand insight on these interventions during the visit.
TV2 Achieving low-carbon residential districts in the city areas of Cuatro de Marzo and FASA-Delicias The districts “Cuatro de Marzo” and “Fasa”, demonstrators of R2Cities and REMOURBAN projects will be visited. In these districts, different actions have been implemented aimed at reducing the consumption of thermal and electrical energy, retrofitting the envelope of buildings and integrating renewable energy sources and monitoring actions.
TV3 District retrofitting within the metropolitan area to achieve an efficient neighbourhood in Torrelago Torrelago district is one of the three demonstration cases of the FP7 European Project, CITyFiED. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to know the executed works in order to reduce the energy demand through the envelope’s renovation of the 31 blocks (140.000 sq.) which make up of Torrelago district, the new district heating network and the monitoring activities.
TV4 Zero energy buildings and heating networks in the University of Valladolid The University of Valladolid has been implementing during the latest years a strong policy to reduce the consumption and emissions of its buildings and infrastructures. This visit will allow visitors knowing some of these actions, as the LUCIA building (certified LEED PLATINUM, being awarded as the most sustainable building in Europe in 2015) or the district heating network that feeds several buildings of the University.
